The Society for the Advancement of the Torah Sheb’al Peh for Am Yisrael was founded in 1998 and registered with the Registrar of Charitable Societies of the State of Israel. It soon received recognition for Israeli tax deductions according to Chapter 46 of the Israeli tax code, and for American tax deductions through the PEF Israel Endowment Fund.
The Society is engaged in a number of activities to advance the awareness and position of the Torah Sheb’al Peh:
The Society has provided hundreds of Torah Sheb’al Peh textbooks for needy children in Israeli schools.
The Society advances basic research in Torah Sheb’al Peh, and published “Torat HaTannaim on Massechet Bava Metzi’a” in order to demonstrate the importance of study of parallel Tannaitic sources before study of Talmud. The Society is now engaged in the preparation of a new edition of the Babylonian Talmud, which is the main focus of the present website.
The Society advances applied research in Torah Sheb’al Peh, especially in the context of learning and teaching materials for primary and secondary schools in Israel and abroad. In this context, the Society is now advancing a unique digital LMS platform (Learning Management System) for all Jewish Studies subjects for schools.
